Over The Garden Hedge
Bathed in the soft golden light of a September evening, the High Garden at Great Dixter. Viewed over the hedge atop a leaning ladder, the setting sun defines texture and form; illuminating and amplifying the character and traits of every plant, each leaf and flower, all the while gilding a dazzling array of autumnal colours from cannas, cosmos, dahlias and sunflowers. Spikes of Calamagrostis and cloud-like forms of Patrinia catch the light, drawing the eye through the planting to the roofscape and trees beyond.
Highly commended in the 2024 International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY).

Through The Garden
I was delighted to be awarded 1st place in “Beautiful Gardens” in the 2018 International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY).
Judge Tyrone McGlinchey, managing director of IGPOTY said: “Nicky has managed to create a composition that has pronounced form, distinct layers and beautiful early morning light.
